5 Elements Thats Make on Your Blog

1. Irrelevant Swoosh:

The swoosh symbol gained prominence from the Nike logo. It has a rich history and emanates from the Greek mythology to mark as a sign of progress and victory in a battle. Although, a swoosh explains the nature of certain industries quite well but if you are adding it to your logo just because it’s a trend then I would say it’s more of a source of distraction.

2. Unnecessary Gradients:

Yes I know…you must be thinking how a nice effect like gradient can be a source of distraction. As I mentioned in my earlier post on logo design trends that a mild linear gradation allows the logo designers to give a direction to the design. But using gradients unnecessarily can be a pain in the neck for the audience. Especially when you employ a gradient that fades to white.

3. Lengthy Taglines:

Taglines are believed to be an effective tool for business marketing. They help in communicating the message of the company in few simple and effective words. But sometimes designers don’t use taglines and slogans efficiently. Using epic slogans confuses the viewer and distracts their attention from the real message. The best of taglines contain 3 words at the most. One of the best examples is “I’m lovin’ it” slogan that accompanies the McDonald’s logo.

4. Cluttered Fonts:

The spacing and proximity of fonts in a logo must be balanced and appropriate. Without correct spacing, the fonts will get cluttered and it becomes deafening for the audience to look at the logo design. Avoid fonts that have a condensed typescript by default. You must pick the right fonts to make the right logo design.

5. Bulky Drop Shadows:

As I mentioned earlier, that the purpose of a logo design is to communicate the meaning and vision of the company to its customers. Adding unnecessary effects to make it gaudy isn’t a wise idea. The use of bulky and thick drop shadows is another cause why people get distracted by looking at a logo design.

Finally, here is how the Microsoft Logo would look like with all the above elements meshed up together:
